The G.C.H.S. English Department welcomes Brittney Roberts for the 2020-2021 schoolyear.

Roberts is currently teaching English I and Honors English I. She joined the staff because she has family ties in the district; her sister is a teacher in the district, and her three nieces and nephews are students at Rocky Creek and the middle school.

Roberts graduated from Mobile Christian. She completed her undergraduate studies at Troy State and earned her Master’s degree at the University of South Alabama. Roberts taught public speaking at U.S.A. for three years and worked for an educational corporation for six years. This year, she decided to return to the classroom — a career that she considers her first love.

When she is not working with her students, Roberts enjoys reading “Harry Potter” novels and traveling to Europe to spend time with her friends who live abroad. She also loves relaxing with her golden retriever Willie Nelson.

To sum up her philosophy for the current school year, Roberts notes her favorite advice from Maya Angelou, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
