As the end of the season is quickly approaching, the boys basketball team continues working hard to make it to the state playoffs.

Although the team had a slow start due to COVID concerns, Coach Bradley’s main goal this season is to win in the district tournament and make it to state playoffs, so he continues working hard to meet his goal despite all the setbacks they have had throughout the season.

“We are still working to make the playoffs, that was the main goal.” Bradley said.

As Bradley works with his team, junior Mojo Dortch continues getting better at the game and getting to know his teammates.

“Our chemistry is good, getting to know each player has gotten better and we’re getting our plays down,” Bradley said.

Between the delays during the season and the many quarantines the team has faced, it’s clear that the season has had its challenges, fellow teammate junior Braydon Walker has a couple things he would do to make this season better.

“I would improve my jump shots, and I would work to include my teammates.”

The boys will wrap up the regular season this Saturday hosting the Greene County Wildcats for senior night.

Now the girls’ team has had a more eventful season.

With any missed games due to COVID and student quarantines,  the Lady Rebels wrap up their regular season despite all the drawbacks they had throughout.

Although the team did not have much of a season,  coach Conswayla Bourne has learned a valuable lesson from coaching the Lady Rebels that she can apply moving forward.

“I learned to adapt and adjust,” Bourne said.

Coach Bourne is not the only one who has grown from this season, junior Charity Penton learned a lesson that basketball has taught her that she can value and apply moving forward in life and basketball.

“You have to go out work for it and chase what you need in life,” Penton said.

Both teams will then travel to Petal for the district tournament Feb. 8-12
