With his love for Southern Miss and Jesus, new teacher Lane Scott wants to make a positive impact on his students’ lives. 

   Scott is a new government and economic teacher at the high school. He also is a football coach. 

   He went to college at Southern Miss where he was inspired to go because he had always liked their football team. Scott has now been teaching for four years. However, he wanted to move up to the high school because it was closer to his home and he liked the age group better. He feels that he can relate more to this age group.

    Scott’s goals for this year are to do his best, have a great year and make relationships with his students and fellow teachers. He wants the environment in his classroom to be welcoming, and he wants his students to feel comfortable so they can always talk to him.

   Some things that Scott loves are Southern Miss and Jesus. He also has hobbies such as playing sports, working out, and watching college football. Scott wants the best for his students. His advice to them is to stay focused, work hard, and enjoy the ride. 

   “Enjoy the ride because it goes by fast,” Scott said. 

   Scott hopes to make a positive impact at the high school. He wants to make students’ lives better and create a positive culture in his classroom and at school.
