After a devastating loss against Biloxi, the varsity football team plans on making a comeback for this upcoming game against Vancleave.
“Last week isn’t who we are,” head football coach Ray said.
In addition to the football team making a comeback, the team also notices some things they need to improve on.
“Something we need to improve on is our chemistry,” receiver Marlin Odom said.
However, the football team also has their strengths. Ray sees the team’s offense and defense lines as one of the team’s strengths.
“Right now, both of the offense and defense lines are good,” Ray said.
During a loss, football players have to try to keep their teammates positive and motivated. One way wide receiver Montrell Dortch keeps his teammates encouraged by telling them to keep working hard.
During the game last Friday the quarterback Brenn Moody was injured. While playing, he sprained his ankle and was sidelined. This means player Gage Reeves had to step up as quarterback.
“It’s a different feeling knowing that I have to play,” quarterback and safety Gage Reeves said.
Rebels fans will be excited to see some old faces returning to the sideline. Junior Deuce Knight and Kohl Bradley will be playing with the team in about two weeks. Knight and Bradley transferred to a private school in Tennessee before the school year started and have since transferred back to finish the Rebel football season.
Coach Ray is excited for them to be back and states that they are where they are supposed to be.
Finally, Coach Ray wanted to express how proud he was of the football team.
“I am proud of the team, proud of what they do and I encourage people to come support them.”
