The perfect profile can play a big role in a student’s social media life and real life. Whether it’s the profile picture, bio or actual posts, many people put a lot of thought into their accounts.
One student that puts thought into their account is senior Yazmin Humphrey.
Yazmin’s account is a Christian based account, so when it comes to her bio and posts, she likes to let people know her faith and hopes to spread the Lord. “I definitely want them to know that I’m all about Jesus. If they want to ask me a question, make it about Jesus,” Humphrey said.
“One of the most important things whenever putting something in your bio is displaying the Lord, displaying what you believe in, whether that’s just, you know, sports or you know, your relationship with God or anything. Your style, whatever you’re solely about and what you center your life around,” Humphrey said.
Yazmin likes to use her social media, mostly her TikTok account which she has 95.2 thousand followers on, to give advice and express her love for Christ. “I love giving advice to others about how to build their relationship with the Lord,” Humphrey said.
Yazmin also gets multiple texts from companies asking her to advertise their products, such as Stanley cups ,apple watches, clothes, perfume and jewelry. Humphry gets commissions on each purchase made through her videos from the companies.
Freshman Anna-Francis Smith also uses her TikTok to spread the Lord by using her posts and bio. “I just do based off things that I think other people need to hear,” Smith said. Smith’s current bio is 1 Peter 5:11 “ To Him be the power for ever and ever, amen.”
“I like to show Jesus as much as I can,” she said.
Both Yazmin and Anna-Francis state that when choosing their profile pictures, they have to have good lighting and make sure that the picture makes them look presentable.
Lastly, junior Deuce Knight is another student that puts a lot of thought into his social media accounts.
Knight has a verified Instagram account with 10.6 thousand followers and he’s also an athlete, meaning that he has to look out for many things when posting. He recommends keeping social accounts PG. “For me I wouldn’t cuss on social media,” Knight said.
“Just don’t post anything that you wouldn’t say to your mom or dad I’ll say,” Knight said.
Knight’s account has also helped him meet new people, such as one of his best friends. “One of my best friends that I’m going to Notre Dame with, I met him over social media and we just clicked like that,” Knight said.
He also states that he met his coach through social media. “I met my coach through Twitter,” Knight said.
Knight got a lot of his offers through Twitter and states that Twitter is the equivalent to coaches as Snapchat is to teens.
Knight also hopes to show people that anyone can do anything they put their mind to. “ Like I said I’m just trying to show everybody like ‘Hey this kid from Mississippi, small town Mississippi, can kinda be big’,” Knight said.
