The boys and girls soccer team played to the second round of the state playoffs. The girls played at West Jones against West Jones on Friday and have advanced to state championships, while the boys went against West Jones on Saturday at home and was defeated.
Sophomore Sam Rodgers states that so far playoffs are going good and the second round should go just as well. “I thought our attack was really really good,” Rodgers said. “West Jones, we should be able to win Saturday.
He’s also very confident for the next round. “I think we’re better than every team left on the board until state and as long as we keep playing our game like we played we should beat every team,” He said.
When it comes to the girls, Senior Jill Lancaster states that the first round was intense and paced paced, but it helped prepare them for future rounds. Her confidence is high for the next rounds as well.
“If we work together as a tram we have a good chance at going all the way,” Lancaster said.
She also states that giving 100 percent effort and watching film of other components helped when it came to playing.
Junior Preslee Howell is also confident for the girls team when it comes to the next rounds. “We’ve played them before, there’s not much to worry about,” Howell said.
Howell has pride in working as a team and having a team others do not have.
Both Rodgers and Howell believe that being with their teams is what helped lead them to the second round of playoffs.
Girls Soccer coach Brittain Dean states that the most important thing to do to continue the success is to be consistent
As far as the future rounds, “The further you advance, the harder it becomes,” Dean said. He believes that his team has the ability to advance and go on.
Boys soccer coach Tyler Williams says that he’s been preparing his team for the past year.
“Everything we’ve done is to prepare for playoffs,” Williams said.
Williams believes that the next round will go good, since they have previously beat every team West Jones is close to.
