For the last two months members of the Educators Rising have been preparing for their competition that occurred last Thursday and Friday.
Students competed in categories, such as Job Interview, Teacher Recruitment, Exploring Administrative Careers and more.
It was not all sunshine and rainbows the whole preparation process, there were a few things the participants struggled with, senior Sarah Goff can attest to this.
“Maintaining eye contact with the judges, and I sounded absolutely terrified when I was talking,” Goff said.
Goff may have struggled during the presentation, but she quickly found her strength after the fact.
“I was very clear and direct with questions they asked me about the project itself,” Goff said.
Junior Libbie-Kate Slay and freshman Makale Breland state that this experience brought a different light on the education system, despite working on separate projects.
“It made me realize it’s way more than just learning a lesson. You can truly be on the same level as your students,” Breland said.
“I observed Mrs. Churchwell, the counselor, and she has such an enormous workload. It’s so much more than just helping students,” Slay said.
Participants also enjoyed the challenge and exploring the campus of Mississippi College in Jackson that hosted the competition.
