With a new program, comes new opportunities. As some may know, the school has adopted another CTE program, digital media. Digital media is being led by a new member of the staff, Zac Wilkins.
This specific program was offered to students and many have enjoyed it since they have joined. Some like the hands-on assignments while others appreciate the fact that it will help them with their future careers and even hobbies they take interest in.
Some students, such as senior TJ Love, hope for a broader understanding of the scenes behind digital and social media platforms and others, like sophomore Ava Thomley hope to know the world behind photography.
Love strongly expresses how digital and social media are playing an impactful part on the world and how people should know how it works.
Many view the teacher as very thorough, interesting and hands-on. Wilkins explains that he divides his class time into three sessions. One for reviewing, one for teaching and the last for hands-on learning.
“I think breaking the day up into those three sections kind of keeps the attention.” Wilkins said. “They say that a human’s attention is about equal to their age. So if you’re 15 you probably could pay attention for 15 minutes.”
Wilkins also expresses that he wishes for him and his team of students to assist with the talent show. Doing this will not only give the students of his class but the contestants in the talent show a glimpse of the media world and the business behind it. Wilkins looks forward to exploring new aspects with his team of students.
