This year, the high school welcomes Danielle King as a teacher assistant to be over the credit recovery class and to be an assistant volleyball coach.
King grew up in Lucedale. Throughout her life, she played fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball. She graduated from GCHS and has lived here her whole life. After King graduated high school, she attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Mississippi State University.
Outside of the classroom, King enjoys reading, working out and going to the beach. Her biggest fear is something happening to any of her three children.
King decided that she wanted to be a teacher because of her passion for coaching volleyball. Aside from wanting to be a teacher, she once aspired to be a hairdresser and was one for some of her life.
One of King’s goals for this school year is to encourage her students to stay on track until graduation. The most important thing that she keeps in mind while teaching and coaching is to have fun, stay on task, and give 100 percent effort. King considers patience, encouragement, and trustworthiness to be the best qualities in a teacher.
“Enjoy the moment while you’re in it. Be where your feet are,” King said.
A core memory in King’s life was when her oldest child was born because everything changed after she had children. Her husband coaches George County’s rival Greene County’s football team. Her son is the quarterback for Greene County. King does not consider there to be any rivalry between her and her husband. Her husband used to teach and coach here in George County. He supports her with her volleyball team, and she supports him with his football team.
King is looking forward to this school year and is excited to see what the volleyball team will bring.
