“I’m really involved, like I’m president of the Mayor’s Youth Council and Interact club, and I like doing things, being involved in whatever I can be.
I don’t know, honestly I think a part of me just, I really like getting to serve my community and getting to be out with people and just trying to express myself in that way.
I really like when we travel. In about February or March we’ll travel up to either Mississippi State or Ole Miss, and we’ll have this whole big conference that goes into it. It’s called the Municipal League Youth Summit.
This past year it was at Mississippi State and we went to a couple different meetings, and we heard this guy, his name is Noah Harris, he used to work in the White House with the president, and he talked to us about how important it is. He was from like Laurel, Mississippi, and he made it big because he worked hard, he worked in his community and he just really pushed that towards us.
This year, I really want to set some boundaries within the school system, that kind of stuff. Kind of work with schools to do anti-drug programs. We have a really bad drug problem in Mississippi and in Lucedale especially, so seeing that kind of thing happen and seeing it taken care of.
Well I really hope to see the council itself grow, as well as myself as a person, as I get older and as the others who are coming and joining get older and they learn more, just to help Lucedale as a city thrive and to get youth more involved, because one day we will, you know, be the leaders in the world. We need to know what we’re doing when we get there.”
