Returning from last season, the Lady Rebels Softball team has a new head coach and new goals for the season.
Former Assistant Coach Anna Grace Cooley has now taken over as head coach for the team. She, along with a few team members, has many goals for this year’s season.
“I’m just looking forward to obviously this is my first year of head coaching. I’m looking forward to taking on that with such a great group of girls that I have here,” Cooley said. “We have a large group of juniors and a large group of sophomores so bringing back a lot of players from last year that I got to be the assistant coach of is kind of exciting for me.”
“My goal for the 2025 season is to make sure we play for God and not play for us,” Junior Addison Davis said.
The Lady Rebels were state champions two years ago and made it to the South State championship game last year but were eliminated by Hancock High School. They are working now to return to the championship title game.
“I’m looking for us to take the ring home with us this year and not losing South State,” Junior Hadleigh Tatum said.
The Lady Rebels are working on being consistent in their practices and doing anything they can to be a high performing team.
“I think you know something that the team and I have talked about since August is just being a very high performing playoff team. If we can do that then I think we’ll be able to accomplish our goals which obviously in the end are playing in that last game, but I think that’s a goal that we’ve set for ourselves is just to be a high performing playoff team,” Cooley said.
