New math teacher Macie Tanner joins the “real GC” for a great school year.
Tanner graduated from Greene County High School and then went on to Jones College and from there she transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi. She graduated with a bachelor’s in mathematics education.
Tanner’s favorite subjects are math and social studies. This is her first year teaching . Last year she was a long term sub at George County High School. She is currently teaching Algebra I and Algebra II. She hopes to gain an understanding from her students.
“I hope that they would say that I am fun and quirky, but I also can be serious sometimes,” Tanner said.
Tanner’s family has influenced her into her chosen career.
“I am a fourth generation math teacher. . . .teachers and coaches,” she said
Tanner enjoys drawing, painting and playing her PS 5. Her biggest fear is spiders. Tanner has many, but her favorite movie is either “Steel Magnolias” or “Patch Adams.” She is getting married on Oct. 4 of this year.
Originally from Greene County Tanner can truly compare the two schools.
“I will say I do like George County better than Greene County,” Tanner said.
Tanner is hoping that this year she can get everything figured out with the order of her teaching and have a great year.
“I have really enjoyed it here so far. Everyday, I’ve just come to school, and I’ve had an awesome time,” Tanner said.
