New special education teacher Sarah Depperschmidt balances teaching and coaching multiple softball teams .
For Depperschmidt, softball has always been a huge part of her life. Starting at age four, when she played with mostly boys, to assistant coach for the Lady Rebels softball team for the high school, middle school and a travel ball team.
“I just started travel ball, I was an assistant coach at baker high school for two years before I came here but I was just a T.A. at Baker, I was assistant coach at the high school there, and head coach at the middle school,” Depperschmidt said.
Balancing teaching and coaching keeps her busy but planning ahead helps her stay focused and on schedule.
“ I try to plan ahead, I try to get as much as I can on the weekends and basically whenever I can,” Depperschmidt said.
Depperschmidt graduated from East Central high school and played softball at Pearl River Community College for two years and played for three years at Belhaven University.
Depperschmidt has been teaching for two years and her first year was spent at Central elementary and her second year will be spent at George County High School.
Some fun facts about Depperschmidt are, she is a big fan of Taylor Swift and Zach Bryan. Her favorite sports team is the Philadelphia Phillies. Her favorite season is fall and, she loves Grey’s Anatomy.
