New to the high school, assistant teacher Victoria May, has begun getting her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

She is currently attending Mississippi State to get her Bachelor’s. She does already have an Associate’s degree in elementary education.

This is May’s first year being an assistant teacher in her own class. Over the last two years she has accumulated some experience in the classroom from subbing. Subbing was actually something that encouraged her to pursue a career in education.

“I enjoy being around children and the love that they have,” May said.

Before working in the teaching profession, May worked in real estate for 10 years.

“I enjoyed looking at houses and meeting new people,” May said.

May is originally from Louisiana, but her family moved to Mobile when she was young, where she graduated from Faith Academy. She moved to George County so that she could finish college.

May’s favorite thing about being a teacher is being able to be seen as an inspiration to her students.

“Being an inspiration and being able to be someone they come to,” May said.

Her hobbies include boating, going to the beach and working out. She also prioritizes spending time with her two children, Tenley and Elijah, along with her husband Adam.
