The Rebel and Lady Rebel soccer teams are District 8 5A Champs.

The Rebels finished up their season after playing in the second round of playoffs against Picayune. The team fell short 3-4.

Going into overtime three times the Lady Rebels defeated Picayune 2-0. The Lady Rebels finished their season hosting the third round of playoffs against Florence, last  Saturday with a score of 0-2 . The Lady Rebels have put in a lot of hard work to have gotten this far in the season. They finished up the season with a 11-5-2 record.

“ Hard work, definitely a bunch of work that we didn’t want to do Coach Dean’s workouts is the number one reason,”  Senior Beautyful Humphrey said.

Congratulations to both teams on a great season.

The Rebels basketball team is in first seed in the district tournament with a record of 6-0 in district. The team has been preparing at practice for the upcoming district tournament.

“ We’ve been doing what we’ve been doing all year you know, we’ve been keeping it basic and now the guys are just starting to really pick up and they’ve got the basic stuff down now so now we’re adding our sets and our plays to the basic stuff,” Coach Terry Bradley said.

Senior Tyler Henry feels very confident going into the district tournament.

“ We’re going to go in as the one seed, I think we’re going to win the first round pretty easily and then the championship game is going to be a fight but I think we can pull it off,” Henry said.

The Lady Rebels basketball team ended the district games with the record of 3-3. Assistant coach Diamond Campbell says she feels like the team is very young and could improve on their mentality.

“ I would say mentality, we just got to get better with the game and learn the game, know what’s going on, and learn more about basketball and playing basketball more,” said Campbell.

Tonight, the Rebels will have their last home game and senior night. They will be playing against Greene County at 6 p.m.
