Last week the Lady Rebel volleyball team had a big victory against the Long Beach Bear cat by 3-1 sets.
The Lady Rebels have a district record of 5-7, and they are looking to finish the season strong. Head coach Laney Christian of the volleyball team has confidence for this season completely.
“I believe that the district is tough so far we have beaten Vancleave, Pascagoula, Picayune, D’Iberville,” Coach Laney Christian said.
She believes that they are very competitive with practices and their games.
“They are all-stars in my heart,” Coach Christian said.
She likes to highlight and focus on her leaders on the team. She says that the seniors are her main leaders because of the positive and supportive attitudes that they have on the younger girls.
Anytime she asks for something, the seniors help up and step up.
“Jill has really taken the younger ones under her wing,”Coach Christian said.
Senior Jillian Lancaster has really stepped up as a leader. She has been a positive influence and supporting leader for the younger players.
Sophomore Aryana Dixon is confident for this season.
“I have a good time playing with my teammates,” Dixon said.
“With the season I think that we can only get better from here,” Dixon said.
“This year the seniors are really good,”Dixon said
Senior Natalie Jones said, “We are a whole different team.”
“During the summer I felt confident for the team but during school it changed,” Jones said.
“I believe that we can make a comeback though,” Jones said.
Jones really focuses on trying to be positive so that she does not rub off her being negative on the other teammates.
Sophomore Jordyn Bradley said, “I’m not worried about the seasons, because you are going to lose games.”
“You can not let other people affect your day,”Bradley said.
“I am close to some of the seniors,” Bradley said.
“Jill hates losing, so Jill pushes us to do,” Bradley said.
“Also that Natalie does not bullcrap around and that she gets the job done,” Bradley said.
The next chance to catch the Lady Rebels in action on Tuesday night against Hancock for another district game.
