Although they have lost two weeks in a row, the Rebels plan to come back strong.

“It’s a new week. It’s time to move on and come off strong against a new team,” said Junior outside linebacker Blaine Morris.

The Rebels played the Oak Grove Warriors on Sept. 27. They defeated the Warriors 24-20, making their record 5-1. On Oct. 4, the Rebels traveled to Jackson to take on the Brandon Bulldogs.

“I thought we started off very well against Brandon, had the lead at halftime, 6-2, came out in the second half and didn’t move the ball very well offensively,” said Head Coach Matt Caldwell. The Rebels ended up losing that game 29-6.

On Oct. 11, the Rebels hosted the NorthWest Rankin Cougars. The Rebels suffered a tough loss to the Cougars, with a score of 35-0.

The Rebels have been preparing to take on the Pearl Pirates on Friday, Oct. 18.

“This week we have Pearl, one of the Top 10 ranked teams in the state of Mississippi. Very well coached, very, very good football team, we’ll have to do our absolute best to be in this football game Friday. Our guys have prepared well this week and we are looking forward to facing the challenge of playing the Pearl Pirates,” said Caldwell.

The Rebels advanced to the playoffs and got beat by the Gulfport Admirals in the first round, finishing with a record of 7-5.
